Sunday, August 24 @ 1pmJoin us for a hands-on workshop exploring the beautiful, unpredictable art of rust dyeing on both fabric and paper. Using natural oxidation and August’s summer heat, we’ll experiment with several techniques to coax out rich orange and brown toneswith moody gray and black accents—no two results are ever the same!
You’ll learn:
· How to prepare fabric and paper for rust printing
· How to safely use common rust-reactive agents
· Layering techniques for dramatic texture and contrast
· Ways to incorporate your finished pieces into wonderful arty objects, such as padfolios, journals, artist’s books, and collages.
Bring your favorite rusty treasures (gears, nails, keys, springs—anything with character), wear old clothes, and don’t forget an apron. You’ll leave with a collection of beautifully dyed substrates ready to dry, admire, and transform.
Available to anyone 14+ (waiver must be signed for those under 18).
