Ainsley Burrows BIO
Ainsley Burrows (born in Kingston, Jamaica; based in Brooklyn, NY and Baltimore, MD) is a multidisciplinary artist exploring personal histories, inherited narrative, and the intersections of the visual and emotional with the written and physical. His artistic practice provides a necessary outlet to his compulsive creativity, and his paintings communicate with his other creative pursuits—he is also a poet, novelist, musician, and performer. Working predominantly with acrylic on canvas, Burrows leans into the tactility of the mediums he works with, using expressive gestures to apply paint and following its natural flow.
Burrows has a solo exhibition currently showing at SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta, NY; and an upcoming solo exhibition at Creative Alliance, Baltimore, MD. He participated in group exhibitions at The Fearless Artist Pop UP 2022, New York, NY; Community College of Baltimore, Baltimore, MD; 11:Eleven Gallery, Washington, DC; and Arlington Arts Center, Arlington, VA. His work is included in several private collections including those of Hill Harper, Jeffrey Wright, Wayee Chu, Lisane Basquiat, Jeanine and Herve Heriveaux, and Joia and Andre Perry.
