GUEST SPEAKERS:
Melanie Shannon: Melanie Shannon is a grazier, teacher, mum, and wife from Banana in Central Queensland. She is passionate about bringing people together and embodies the spirit of a modern rural Australian woman; balancing agriculture, education, and community leadership with energy and determination.
She facilitates the Barfield Road Producer Group; a beef and cropping group that builds resilience through community. With a focus on collaboration and connection, Melanie has helped shift the group’s vision to place personal and mental wellbeing and kindness at its heart; proving that even in agriculture, there is space for self-care.
Melanie’s own journey has been shaped by both hardship and hope. Growing up locally, she lost her mum and dad at an early age. While these losses deeply affected her, she was surrounded by love and kindness; experiences that strengthened her resilience and inspired her to support others.
Together with her husband, she runs cattle properties near Banana & Marlborough. Through passion, determination, and a love of learning, Melanie is living her best life every single day.
Prue Luck: Hi my name is Prue and I’m a pharmacist, farmer’s wife, mummy, Central Qld Qendo Representative and gardening enthusiast!!
I was diagnosed with endometriosis over a decade ago now at young age of 18. Navigating its challenges, over the years I was additionally diagnosed with adenomyosis and then entered the world of infertility and IVF. This was by far my hardest health hurdle but thankfully the fight and persistence paid off and 4 years later welcomed my little girl.
Being a health professional and personal victim of endo and the like, I’m incredibly passionate about spreading awareness to help others and Qendo gives me the perfect platform to do so. I started volunteering for Qendo when I first moved to CQ in 2018 and have been hosting meet ups and presentations with the area ever since.
Rural Women's Day is proudly supported by our National Partner Squadron Energy and event sponsor Bendigo Bank + Outback Linen.
