About this Event

Join Read and Run Chicago and Rachel Weber, a professor of urban planning at UIC, for a 3-mile run in the Loop inspired by her book, From Boom to Bubble: How Finance Built the New Chicago!

Enjoy an easy-paced 3-mile run through three sub-markets of the Loop inspired by Dr. Weber’s award-winning book, From Boom to Bubble. Along the way, she will describe the financial origins of some of the Loop’s most famous skycrappers as well as the relocation of the city’s primary office district from LaSalle Street to Wacker Drive to Fulton Market.

PREPARE: Before the event, please read Dr. Weber’s From Boom to Bubble. You can purchase the book using this link. All registered runners will receive a code to receive 50% off their purchase of the book on the University of Chicago Press site. MEET: Meet at 9am on Sunday, July 10 outside of the Chicago Board of Trade Building (Google Maps Link here).

ROUTE: Dr. Weber will guide runners on a 3-mile, easy-paced run through the Loop following important sites featured in her book.

END: Dr. Weber and runners will have a discussion at Time Out Market (Google Maps Link here). The cost of food is not included in the event.

All registered runners will receive reminder emails and details 2 days and 4 hours prior to the event.
