About this Event
Running is a demanding activity. Your body experiences a force equal to 3X your body weight with every step. But running itself does not wear down an otherwise healthy person's muscles, joints and bones.
Injuries from running have more to do with what was missing from the training routine (strength, mobility etc.) resulting in poor joint mechanics, inefficient muscle action and overtrained systems.
Short strides under-utilize your full range of motion. Repetitive movements over use some muscle groups and some muscle fibres and under use others.Stressing the same metabolic and hormonal response over extended periods leads to a decline in performance (and mood!)
There is ample opportunity for chronic hard-to-heal injuries to suddenly emerge.
Why chase a runner's high if it leads to a limper's low?

Info: The one-of-a-kind program for each session in this 4-week series is designed based on a different “counter balance” theme that promotes running longevity and performance: STAYING (holding stretches to lengthen muscles, holding muscle contractions + breath work) ROTATING (mobility and strength exercises that travel backwards, sideways and in rotation) NOT STANDING (floor-based exercises that give your gravity-baring joints a break…and more support!) MAXING OUT (exercises to improve power generation, stimulate new fitness gains after a period defined by aerobic and mechanical efficiency.)
