Running on the trails in the dark can feel daunting and challenging, but we’re here to help you gain that confidence and experience in a supportive group setting.Join us for the Runaround Kent community night run designed to help you get comfortable navigating the trails after the sun goes down. Whether you’re preparing for an upcoming race or simply want to experience night trail running, this months community run is for you.
What to expect:
- Guided, group paced night run so you’re never alone
- Tips and support from experienced night trail runners
- A chance to build confidence and get comfortable with night trail running.
The route:
We follow a 10 mile route on the trails and woods around Blue Bell Hill / North Downs Way. The route is mainly on trail, with some short paved/ road sections and has around 450m elevation gain. Given the time of year, expect the trails to be muddy and wet.
As always, this is a super inclusive community run for anyone looking to meet friendly likeminded runners, explore new routes or have some company on a training run.
This is suitable for adult runners of all abilities and paces. We are absolutely committed to ensuring everyone enjoys the run and have a set up in place to make sure no one is left behind or made to feel like they should be moving faster.
As this is a night run, you must bring a headtorch with you. Phone torches will not be appropriate.
Start/Finish:
We will meet in the Blue Bell Hill Picnic Site. Please do not park in the picnic site car park as it will be closed by the time we return from the run. Please park on the roads in Blue Bell Hill village and be sure not to block any access roads or driveways. You may have a 5 minute walk to the picnic site.

Route Description:
Starting at the Picnic site, we will head down the North Downs Way on tarmac, crossing the pedestrian footbridge before joining the trail on the opposite side of the A229. From here we will head back up the trail, cross Warren Road before joining Frith Wood. After a short while we will head back into blue bell village, crossing podkin meadow, before heading down the trail towards Burham. our first real incline then takes us all the way back up to common road, before we join the trail at Monk Wood (next to Robin Hood pub). Once here, we do what is commonly known as the Robin Hood Loop, which takes us down to Nashenden Farm, before heading back up the North Downs to the trail entrance back at the pub. Our final section takes us back down the hill before a final climb back up to the viewpoint (also known as “Phil’s hill”, for anyone that ran the Triple Trail 50)
The route will not be marked so runners are encouraged to download the gpx file to their watch / phone or stay close to other runners with access to the map. If you reach a section of the course where you are unsure where to go, you’re best to wait until the next group of runners catch up with you and then carry on. Embrace Ultra will ensure no one is left behind, but with the growing popularity of the runs are unable to be at every point or with every runner at all times.
Please ensure you dress appropriately for the run / weather and carry with you sufficient food/drink to cover the 10 miles. And please do not forget your headtorch!
This will be a really fun community run
See you there
