We are back for another edition of Run Your Tongue - the spoken word open mic night where everyone is welcome and anything goes.
About this Event

Join us for a weird and wonderful evening of words at the amazing WATSON'S COCKTAIL BAR (AKA The Vegan Bar) in Leicester.

If you would like to perform on the open mic, please email [email protected] beforehand (poets, singers and storytellers are all welcome - in fact, as long as it involves words, you are welcome to open mic!)

This is a hybrid event, meaning there are some slots available for online performances anywhere in the world! Also, feel free to log in and watch!

DOMINIC BERRY
Who is Dominic?
Dominic Berry is an award-winning poet. He was 2017 Glastonbury Festival Poet in Residence, winner of the 2020 and 2017 Saboteur ‘Best Spoken Word Artist’ award, and has toured his verse across USA, Canada, India, New Zealand, Australia, South America and Europe.
His other awards include winning New York’s Nuyorican Poetry Cafe Slam, UK Superheroes of Slam and, as of 2020, nine Arts Council England Grants for the Arts awards.
Television
Dominic has performed his poetry on BBC2 showcasing the best of 2017 Glastonbury Festival, BBC’s Greg and Celia’s Festivals Highlights (highlights of 2014’s Edinburgh Fringe), Channel 4’s My Daughter The Teenage Nudist and Channel 4 News. In his children’s poet ‘Dommy B’ persona, he introduced his pet ‘Dave the Dragon’ on CBeebies Rhyme Rocket.
Theatre
For family audiences, Dominic has nationally toured his self penned solo shows Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh! Dinosaurs! (2016, 2017, 2018 and pre-lockdown 2020, voted by Fest as one of the Top 7 shows for families at Edinburgh Fringe), The Dragon Who Hates Poetry (2013, 2015, 2018 and 2019 funded by Big Imaginations and Grants for the Arts) Spark, The Goblin Wizard (2014, 2018 and 2020) funded by Hamilton Project) and When Trolls Try To Eat Your Goldfish (2014 and 2019, funded by Action Transport Theatre, Big Imaginations and GftA). Full of energy, jokes and action, these performances have enjoyed full capacity crowds from London to Glasgow, and have resulted in Manchester’s Flapjack Press publishing the tie-in book to accompany each story.
