This is a 5k run to remember those lost to violence over the last year, and to hope for peace in the future. This run started on 12/24/12 to remember those lives lost during the Sandy Hook shooting. We were running for a peaceful world. As we were running that morning, violence struck in our back yard as the West Webster fire department responded to an emergency and were fired upon, injuring 2 and killing 2 firefighters.
Since this first Remembrance Run in 2012, we have continued to run for peace on Christmas Eve morning, remembering all those lives who were taken early due to violence.
This year we will be meeting at 8:45AM at the Market at I-Square (they are closed, but will be opening for us:) We will have a moment of silence and a song about Peace, and we will start with our quiet, reflective 2 or 3.1 mile walk or run at 9AM. After the run we will meet back at I-Square coffee, cocoa and "pot luck snacks." Please bring a small treat to share :)
Thank you, and I hope you join me in the spirit of Peace.
