Run Amok, the scavenger hunt for masochists that hopes to appease the screaming desires only your secret vices can silence.

What does this entail? Orienteering, but not really, and a chunky cash prize.

You turn up, we hand you a map, and you run to the locations marked with crosses, trying to collect the numbers on the markers quicker than anyone else.

But like all good Mexican telenovelas* - there’s a twist.

*This used to say Scandi-drama, but apparently no one knows what that is so we have switched to Telenovelas because they are wild.

The Twist:

Alongside your map you will receive a card with five numbers written on it.

These numbers correspond to five of the ten numbers on the course, but you wont know if you've turned up to the right marker until you get there.

There are ten locations so the chance you've got it wrong is something like 50%. It could be more, it could be less; when we asked ChatGPT it responded with questions of its own and that made us uncomfortable, so we turned it off.

Your chances of running and getting the right five in the first five are mega slim.

Mega. Slim. But not impossible, and that’s why we think you're going to be well into this.

The Prize:

So, remember the chunky cash prize? Well, you can literally win that. Actual money. But to do this you have to take yet another risk. We require you to pay a small entry fee and take a gamble. This gamble might pay off and you hit all the locations you need to complete the race, but most likely you won’t win. You’ll lose. You’ll be a loser. There will only be one winner. But what if you’re special? Not like the others? A winner? THE winner? Well, that’s the chance you have to take. Your fee will get put into a pot, and whoever wins collects the cash money prize. The more of you join, the more money you can win. So for a small fee of £5 you could win ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

(I have just been told by our legal team to manage expectations and clarify that you will not be able to win one million dollars as that is A imposible at the scale of our current operation, and B, not the currency we operate within Great Britain)

The Event:

We are starting at Hillgate Cakery, on the Underbank in Stockport at 18:30.

There will probably be some preamble and a mostly coherent explanation of the rules.

Then we will hand out your maps and cards and randomly generate the five numbers you will be looking for.

The timer will be set for about 60 minutes, we will tell you on the day, and you'll be set loose on Stockport Town.

It's then on you what you get up to.

You could race around trying to get all ten because you think you've sussed out how to win, or bumble between five because you've always believed in your innate luck, and its never let you down before, so why would it let you down now right. Right?

We don’t care, just make sure you're back before the timer sounds or you're disqualified.

The Winner:

The winner cannot be spotted. The winner isn’t the most muscular, or that stick thin bloke with the dead eyes.

The winner could be you.

The winner will definitely know how to win and that’s what we are telling you now so pay attention.

To win you must collect the numbers that correspond with the ones on your sheet and get back to the starting point before anyone else.

Simple.

Once the winner has been confirmed, and their tracked route verified, everyone else will receive a text to inform them of their failure and we will all meet back at the start to console each other.

No medal you'll instantly misplace, no shouting crowd, no blow up finishing arch.

Just a cracking cafe and a bunch of losers.
