Come and cheer up your January by joining in the adventures of the residents of Baron’s Stanley and the evil Rumpelstiltskin! Performances are at 7:30pm on 23rd, 24th and 25th January, with a matinee also on 25th January at 2:30pm.
Rumpelstiltskin is even grumpier than usual as all he wants is a playmate but no one wants to befriend him. Meanwhile the crops are ruined and the villagers have no money to pay Baron Berkeley’s taxes. When Mick the Miller rashly promises that his daughter Mary can turn straw into gold, the Baron kidnaps her, much to the horror of his virtuous son, Charles. With the help of his three doting Aunties, who happen to be Witches, Rumpy helps Mary with her impossible task, in return for an unspeakable reward.
You will also meet Baroness Beattie, struggling to keep the castle going with little in the way of resources, whilst dreaming of her long lost love, Will the Woodsman. Then there’s Quads and Squats, the ever (un)reliable guards who get dragged into many an awkward situation.
And don’t forget Handy Andy, the apprentice, always looking for a new job as he seems to be hopeless at most things. There are plenty of laughs with singing and dancing along the way towards a haunting show down in the evil Upside Down.
Tickets (£8 or £6 for concessions) available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/stanleyplayers and Yew Tree Stores.
