Character age range: M & F 20s-60s

SHOW DESCRIPTION:
In this fast-paced comedy when guests arrive for a dinner party at the home of the Deputy Mayor of New York, they discover their host injured, his wife missing, and no explanation in sight. Desperate to avoid scandal, the couples spin outrageous cover stories—leading to a whirlwind of mistaken identities, frantic lies, and secrets, exploring the lengths people will go to in order to save face.
ROLES AVAILABLE WITH CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Chris Gorman– (Female 30s-50s) Ken’s elegant and attractive wife. She is a lawyer. She is a bit high-strung when faced with high-stress situations; developing nervous habits like smoking, nail-biting, and such. Easily flustered. Frantically tries to maintain normalcy at the party. Has recently quit smoking, which drives her to drink a bit more. (This is a large role.)
Ken Gorman– (Male 40s-60s) Chris’ well-spoken and handsome husband, who is also an attorney. He is a little excitable himself, but tends to see things from a legal point of view and can be generally good at thinking on his feet. Wealthy, but by no means pretentious. Takes charge of the situation. Halfway through the show, a gunshot causes his temporary deafness. (This is a large role.)
Claire Ganz– (Female 30s-50s) Lenny’s attractive and gossiping wife. A Westchester, New York housewife-type. Very concerned with appearances (hers and others'). Starts the play with a swollen lip. Claire is a woman that is used to being in control; however, she gradually falls apart though the show due to her drinking through the night. (This is a large role.)
Lenny Ganz– (Male 30s-50s) Claire’s irascible, sarcastic, and yet very likable husband, who is an accountant. Intolerant of the gossipy-lifestyle that he is often involved in. Lenny and Claire have just been in a car accident in Lenny’s much-loved new BMW. He has hurt his neck and broken their expensive gift. He is
constantly jumping to conclusions. (This is a large role.)
Cookie Cusak– (Female 40s-60s) Ernie’s wife, who is the host of a popular cooking show and suffers from extreme back spasms. She has a very dramatic, physical personality. Loves her husband very much. A bit absent-minded at times. This role requires a lot of physical comedy, such as crawling on the floor, and a limber actor to sell the ongoing back issues. (This is a medium role.)
Ernie Cusak– (Male 40s-70s) Cookie’s adoring husband, who is a smug psychiatrist. Affable, smokes a pipe. At times, he feels under appreciated by the rest of the group. This role will be supporting Cookie though her back spasms throughout the show. (This is a medium role.)
Cassie Cooper– (Female mid-20s-30s) Glenn’s gorgeous trophy wife. She is quite insecure even though she is obviously sexy. A jealous type who is quick to anger and believes in the healing power of crystals. Must rub her quartz crystal to calm herself down. She’s unsure of what everyone thinks of her, as in she does not want to be the pretty bimbo, but kind of is. (This is a medium role.)
Glenn Cooper– (Male 30s-60s) Cassie’s ambitious and polished husband, who is a politician preparing to run for the state senate. Worried about his own reputation. Struggles with placating his wife, who is convinced he is having an affair (which he may or may not be). He loves his wife, however he wants to be included with the ‘in crowd’ and go places in life. (This is a medium role.)
Officer Welch– (Male 40s-60s) An Act II role only. A vigorous, straight-talking, veteran police officer having a rough night. While having few lines, this character has a comedic role in the show. This actor will need to portray someone taking control of a room full of hysterical and drunk characters to bring closure to the show. (This is a small role.)
Officer Pudney– (Female 20s-30s) An Act II role only. Welch's partner. A rookie cop with only one line; however, this officer’s silence is hysterical too. (This is a very small role.)
