Rug braiding originated in Europe, but was adapted and perfected by Colonial Americans. Early settlers used braided rugs to recycle old clothing and textiles to make a floor covering that would provide warmth and protection for a home's residents and guests.
Students are asked to bring scissors, a lunch and to dress warmly.
