Joining forces on a double-header tour in Nov/Dec are two songwriting powerhouses, Rufous Whistler and Possum, on their "Pet Names" tour.Rufous Whistler is “… one of Australia’s finest songsters” (Post to Wire) who blends alt-country and contemporary folk to deliver his lively and innovative storytelling. Backed by a talented ensemble, they deliver a rich, harmony-filled sound. The band have been touring extensively in 2024 ahead of the release of their debut album, out in early 2025.
Possum delivers a modern take on Australian songs and bush ballads from the folk revival of the 60s. Her music crafts humour and vulnerability to regale audiences with modern drinking songs and tales of nights out traversing country pubs and strip clubs. Her unique brand of hyperlocal folk captures a snapshot of Australia that threads cultural narratives through time and place; from the historical to a surreal present. Definitely best listened to with a pint.
