RUBY DAWN
Ruby Dawn is a unique band in the world of progressive and alternative music, with a powerful yet soulful signature sound firmly rooted in the realms of rock, with the spellbinding, melodic lyrical style of vocalist / songwriter Carola Baer adding a haunting beauty. The band have built a strong live reputation in the prog / alternative rock scene with performances at Prog For Peart, Summer’s End, The Nene Valley Rock Festival, Prog The Forest, and Southampton’s 1865 club, among others.
Their music has also featured on BBC Introducing, and many rock and prog stations in the UK and overseas. The band released their highly anticipated debut album ‘Beyond Tomorrow’ in April 2023, to wide acclaim, and will be releasing their second album ‘Blood on Water’ 1st November 2024.
THE PURSUIT OF PLEASURE
The Pursuit of Pleasure are a brand-new band hailing from the South Coast of England.
BBC INTRODUCING - "gorgeous, harmonic...beautiful folky sound...love that so much"
THE NEWS - "earworm-worthy songs...definitely worth keeping an eye out for"
STRONG ISLAND - "an intimacy that suitably reflects the mood their sound creates......look forward to hearing more"
GLIDE MAGAZINE - "great songwriting, well performed ideas....excellent!"
With both male and female lead vocalists, Wit & Rox (The B of the Bang) and Khaleda (The Day of the Rabblement) there are musical comparisons with classic artists like The Mamas & Papas, Fleetwood Mac and Jefferson Airplane.
However, their blend of British-Americana, alt-country, folk and pop has a somewhat more contemporary sound in line with current bands like First Aid Kit, The Decemberists and Fleet Foxes. The band themselves cite Jenny Lewis, The Cardigans, Kings of Convenience and Michael Kiwanuka all as influences as well as the timeless song-writing of Jimmy Webb and Burt Bacharach.
VELVET ENGINE
Velvet Engine is the brainchild of Chilean Northamptonian San-D Godoy-Messenger.
Known for delicate melodies and heartfelt storytelling.
Performing both solo and with a full band, her music offers a welcome escape from the noise of everyday life, the perfect alt-folk sounds to cup-of-tea to.
Recently crowned Best Folk & Acoustic Act at the Radio Wigwam Awards 2025, Velvet Engine continues to carve a path in the folk scene with this breed of heart-warming alt-folk music. This time, she takes the stage with her band, bringing new depth and energy to her beautifully crafted songs.
