Hailed by critics as one of the best pianists of his generation, Rubén Talón is the winner of more than 30 first prizes in national and international competitions in Spain, France, Italy, Austria and the United States. Such as: 1º Prize Vittoria Caffa Rigetti International Piano Competition Milano, 1º Prize Giulio Rospigliosi Piano Competition, 1º Prize Euterpe International Piano competition Bari, 1º Prize Moscato International Piano competition Napoli, 1º Prize Varesse Piano Competition, 1º Prize Dolomiti Piano Competition, 1º Prize Daniele Ridolfi Piano Competition, 1º Prize International Competition Luigi Zanuccoli, 1º Prize Virtuoso International Piano Competition de Salzburgo, 1º Prize Citta di Pesaro International Piano Competition, 1º Prize Val Tidone International Piano Competition, 1º Prize Claude Kahn Piano Competition in Paris, among others. He has also been recognized with special prizes for the best interpretation of works by Manuel de Falla, Liszt and Rachmaninov, "Exceptional Talent" in Salzburg and winner of first prizes in the Albox and Riccione chamber music competitions.
He began his musical training at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música José Iturbi in Valencia at the age of 12, with Professor Ricardo Roca. In 2006 he began his studies at the Conservatory of Rueil-Malmaison [Paris] in the class of Denis Pascal. Later he attended masterclasses by teachers like Alicia de Larrocha, Maria João Pires, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jaques Rouvier, Lazar Berman, Michel Béroff and Rudolf Buchbinder, among others.
In October 2010 he was admitted to the prestigious Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro in Imola [Italy]. Rubén Talón has become the first Spaniard to be accepted in this important institution, where he has studied for 9 years with Leonid Margarius and Boris Petrushansky.
He gives concerts as a soloist and with orchestra [Orquesta de Valencia, Orquesta Europea de Milán, Nord Caucasus Philharmonic…] in Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Russia, China, United Kingdom, Argentina and Uruguay. Rubén offers concerts as soloist in Spain, France, Italy , Argentina, Uruguay, Austria and Germany, UK, China and has also collaborated in concerts with chamber groups, accompanying singers and important Orchestras in auditoriums and concert halls, Palau of the Musica Valencia , Duomo of Cortemillia, Auditorium Ciudad of León, Auditorium del Massimo of Rome, Hall Marielle Ventre of Imola, Auditorium Umanitaria in Milán, ‘Real Academia de España’ in Rome,” Auditorium of Albox”, Auditorium de Rueil-Malmaison in Paris, Teatro Juan Bravo de Segovia, Auditorium of Schiltz, Auditorium of Fulda, Cambridge University, Pekin Pingu Auditorium, Mozarteum of Salzburgo, Sala Mozart of Bolonia, Centro Kirchner Buenos Aires, Auditorio SODRE Nelly Goitiño in Montevideo and Salle Gaveau in Paris, among others.
He has given masterclasses in several conservatories and specialized centers, both in Spain and abroad, and has been part of the jury in international competitions. His students have been winners of national and international competitions.
His latest recording, Seeking Lightness, produced by Shigeru Kawai and dedicated to Beethoven, Liszt and Rachmaninov has been praised by international critics and specialized media, being awarded with important prizes such as the Gold Prize at the World Classical Music Awards and the Silver Global Music Awards.
Rubén Talón is Delegate of the Eutherpe Foundation, Ambassador of Talent in the Promete Foundation and Director of the concert series El Piano de Cañada Blanch in Valencia. In addition to his concert activity, he directs the Piano Department of ESMAR [Escuela Superior de Música de Alto Rendimiento], in Valencia.
