National Rubber Duck Day is January 13th, 2024 and we're celebrating all day!The rubber ducky (also spelled duckie) has come a long way from his first concept as a chew toy for children. While the origin of the first rubber ducky is uncertain, many rubber molded toys came about when rubber manufacturing developed in the late 1800s. They produced a variety of toys from dolls and various animal shapes, including the rubber duck. Today, they're not just a kids' toy; adults are getting in on the fun too, with Jeep Ducks and Cruising Ducks.
On January 13th, we'll have rubber ducks hidden throughout the entire Library. Find one, and bring it to the Reference Desk for a prize. Some prizes will be small, some prizes will be big. Either way, you get to go on a "duck hunt", and if you find a duck you'll get to keep the duck and earn a prize!
One redeemed duck per person, and we kindly ask that once you have found a duck, you leave any others you might spot for others to find.
