Lecture Title: Development of International Reference Methods for the Analysis of Micronutrients in Infant Formula
Abstract: Micronutrient testing of infant formula is crucial for ensuring the nutritional adequacy and safety of these products, which are vital for infant growth and development. Micronutrients are vitamins, minerals, and trace elements play a key role in metabolic processes, immune function, and overall health. Inadequate or excessive amounts of these micronutrients can lead to serious developmental issues. This presentation provides an overview of the development of international reference methods for vitamin D by LC-MS, lactoferrin by SPR, and vitamin E by chiral chromatography in infant formula. The importance of standardised protocols and compliance with international regulatory guidelines will be discussed.
