Royston Vasie launch their new album 'Through The Canopies' (released 15th May 2024) at The Grand Poobah in Nipaluna/Hobart, Lutruwita/Tasmania.Through The Canopies is laden with jangly guitars and whip-smart social commentary. The songs have got that Australiana familiarity of The Go-Betweens, whilst still being distinctly Royston Vasie.
Sonically the new album has been likened to Australian royalty The Go-Betweens. Songwriters Cam Mitchell and Leigh Hardingham's songs are honest, transparent and ambiguous just where they need to be.
The band has toured Australia and the U.S. with the likes of Spencer P Jones, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Courtney Barnett and Ben Kweller.
Presented by Hobart + Music = Yeah, with local supports RABBIT, Cathy Diver and Filthy Little Star.
Doors at 7:00pm, $20 entry (door sales only).
This event takes place on the stolen lands of the Muwinina people. We acknowledge and respect the Tasmanian Aboriginal community who are the traditional owners of this land. Sovereignty was never ceded.
