The West Coast Showcase Camp provides all players with an opportunity to demonstrate their talents/skills in highly competitive situations for the college coaches working at and in attendance at the event This event will be coordinated by Gerry Freitas, author of The Hoop Review Scouting Report — to which close to 200 college coaching staffs subscribe. In addition to his work as a highly respected talent evaluator, Coach Freitas has 21 years of collegiate coaching experience – 11 years at the NCAA Division II and NAIA Level. 4 years NAIA Head Coach, 7 years as a NCAA Division I Assistant Coach including stints at USC, Colorado, St. Mary’s and UC Davis. The Hoop Review Scouting Service will provide a report on the event to over 200+ college coaches and various internet sites.

The West Coast Showcase offers you an opportunity to play for and in front of College Coaches. Players are also able to participate in high-level instruction led by 20 year + year College coaching veteran Gerry Freitas. The combination of coaching and size and reputation of the Hoop Review’s recruiting service are unmatched anywhere else in British Columbia.

Participation in youth or adult team sports and tournaments (“Activities”) carries risks, including the risk of injury, chronic injury, illness, property loss or even death (“Risks”). Such Risks may arise from causes that are known or unknown. Douglas Colleges makes no representations or warranties to teams and players regarding any safety or other risks associated with participation in the Activities, and does not accept responsibility or liability for the Risks.
All participation in the Activities is voluntary and players who choose to participate do so at their own risk and through their participation voluntarily agree to assume these risks. By registering for Activities that take place on Douglas College lands, buildings or facilities, registering coaches or school/institution representatives undertake on behalf of their clubs, schools or institutions (each a “Participating Organization”) to carefully review the Risks with their players (and, in the case of minors, with their parent/guardians), and to take all reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable Risks, including through proper instruction, supervision, enforcing appropriate standards of conduct, safeguarding player personal property and ensuring players are medically fit and able to safely participate in the Activities.
As a term of registration for the above Activity, the Participating Organization agrees that (a) to the fullest extent permitted by law, Douglas College shall not be liable to the Participating Organization and the Participating Organization shall not sue, bring or commence any claim against Douglas College for any loss, cost, liability, damages, claims or expenses arising from the Risks, including to the extent that such Risks arise from the negligent or wrongful acts or omissions of Douglas College or its officer, directors, employees, volunteers or representatives (“Personnel”); and (b) that the Participating Organization shall indemnify and save harmless Douglas College and its Personnel for any loss, cost, liability, damages, claims or expenses that any one or more of Douglas College or any member of its Personnel may suffer or incur as a result of any negligent or wrongful acts or omissions of the Participating Organization or Participating Organization’s Personnel.
