Pune became an imperial royal city since Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj made Laal Mahal his residence and then later when Peshwa Bajirao chose Pune as his official residence and built the Shaniwar Wada as his royal palace & it became the seat of power of the Maratha Empire.With the rise of the imperial power in the city the Peshwas & the prominent Generals & Administrators of the Peshwa court built temples for deities they had faith in. These beautiful temples are in the Maratha style of architecture.
