Tāmaki Makaurau, as part of Auckland’s Elemental AKL Festival, the 6th floor of the Roy Lippincott designed Smith & Caughey’s building will showcase the Aotearoa premier of ROW, the award winning holographic audio-visual installation by new, international media arts collective TUNDRA.
What is ROW?
ROW by TUNDRA is an immersive holographic audio-visual installation.
It's basic way to structure data, from mathematics to the twelve notes of the chromatic scale in music, where you picture rows of data floating in the air as they’re converted into messages and voices.
TUNDRA have challenged themselves to experiment with this technology, ultimately creating a mesmerising audio-visual experience.
This is a world where bits and bytes of information become symbols that combine with words that add up to sentences that in turn translate ideas and thoughts into tangible artforms.
About ROW
Award-winning ROW makes its Australasian debut at Smith & Caughey’s, whilst touring the world to critical acclaim.
The Lippincott designed Grand Hall is transformed with this raw, data-driven installation that is equal parts dazzling and hypnotic. ROW is a well considered and minimalistic mixed media experience unlike anything before in Tāmaki Makaurau, that may challenge everything you thought you knew about perception, information, language and dialogue.
The Experience
ROW by TUNDRA is suitable for all ages and absorbed in a 30 minute session, with numbers per session strictly limited in order to maximise the viewers experience.
Photosensitivity warning. This installation contains flashing lights which may not be suitable for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
This event is a partnership between Creative Production agency Vesica Aotearoa and venue hosts Smith & Caughey’s. Vesica Producer, Anthony van Dorsten, and Smith & Caughey’s Managing Director, Edward Caughey, are pleased to present such an enthralling, award winning experience.
