About this Event
After some discussion and feedback from the greater Council earlier this year, it was decided that we will organize and host two larger conference events for key stakeholders and implementation leaders here in Routt County moving forward. The spring conference will take place much as it has in years past sometime between late March and early May, as schedules allow. However, rather than hosting a public version of the conference the following day, we’ll host a series of regional Community Outreach meetings as we did in May of this year. And, rather than hosting quarterly Council meetings throughout the year, we will host a second conference in the fall and request a firm commitment from Council members to attend both.
The benefit to Council members is that they are provided important updates twice a year, without feeling the pressure to attend quarterly meetings. Additionally, as key stakeholders convene and discuss the successes and challenges associated with their wildfire mitigation projects, the group has the opportunity to learn from each other’s valuable experiences. Finally, by sharing longer range hopes and more ‘conceptual’ projects, our local project leaders will be able to identify opportunities for collaboration and expanded project impact prior to seeking funding. As larger, shared projects take shape, RCWMC can be leaned on for leadership and fiscal agency if appropriate.
The goal is to start moving from an opportunistic, siloed mitigation approach to a more strategic, comprehensive, efficient and collaborative approach.
Let's celebrate some of this year's successes and explore how we can do even more.
