SAHP Roundtable: Stories from the Field of Historic Home Restoration
Join the Sarasota Alliance for Historic Preservation (SAHP) for an engaging, moderated discussion that brings together local homeowners and restoration experts who have taken on the rewarding challenge of preserving historic properties in Sarasota and Venice.
Moderated by historian and preservation professional Harry Klinkhamer, the roundtable will explore real-world experiences—from inspiration and obstacles to lessons learned and proud outcomes. Panelists will share insights on balancing historical accuracy with modern living, navigating roadblocks, and utilizing available preservation resources.
Panelists include:
- Susan & Jim Davis – Restorers of historic bungalows in Burns Court
- Michelle & Paul van Deventer – Restorers of historic bungalows in Laurel Park
- Selma Goker – Owner/restorer of a rare Lustron Home in South Poinsettia Park
- Mike & Alice Jeromin – Experienced preservationists from Ohio who are are beginning the restoration of a prized historic home in Venice
The program will conclude with an audience Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to ask panelists specific questions about their projects.
