About this Event

Rotary Park ARTWALK: ᐱᔦᓰᐢᑳᐤ piyêsîskâw

Come join CIFRS and CHCA for a vibrant celebration of art at Rotary Park ARTWALK: ᐱᔦᓰᐢᑳᐤ piyêsîskâw! This in-person, family friendly event will showcase a diverse range of talented local indigenous artists and their creations around the theme of Birds. Located at 617 1 St NE, we will meet at the north end of Rotary Park. This is just beside the parking lot on the corner of Centre Street and 7th Avenue NE. From there, we will walk together through the park to each of six (6) mini-galleries. The artists featured will join us and have the chance to share about their work and process. After our walk, light refreshments will be served and we will have a chance to mingle and/or birdwatch in the park. Mark your calendars and get ready to experience the magic of art in a whole new way!

Registration is NOT required for the artwalk. We will however be hosting a limited seating for a beading workshop from 3-5pm, for which registration IS required. See our other events for more information and to register!

Presented by Colouring it Forward Reconciliation Society and the Crescent Heights Community Association.

ᐱᔦᓰᐢᑳᐤ piyêsîskâw, there is an abundance of birds

Here at Rotary Park, where the hillside falls down into the river valley, you will be able to spot many beautiful species of our winged kin. The confluence of the rivers is a meeting place not only for us humans, but for many others as well. We invite you to consider how this place has changed in the last hundred years, but also the parts that remain. The nests which are built in these trees return spring after spring, and the generations of birds born here have found ways to live in harmony despite the rapid development of humans. What can we learn from them?

Artists: Amber Boyd, Staci Duchene-Wolfe, Hilary Mcdonnell, Sarah Whalen-Lunn, Jasmine Piper, and riel starr.

Curated by Danielle Piper.
