From mouthing sheep on the family farm in country WA to Deputy World President of the International Real Estate Federation in Paris - John Garland AM has become the Real Estate “Go to Guy” for Executive Lifestyle Properties and iconic large acreage property acquisitions throughout WA, including the sale of the Emu Brewery site in the central CBD for $55m and the sale of the Gidgegannup Town Site to Port Bouvard for $90m.
Come and listen to John Garland, in conversation with Ron Gibson (co-founder of Rotary Means Business), share his insights on the business which he started 60 years ago, the WA property landscape, and Rotary.
Along the way John has officiated as auctioneer at over 3,000 auctions, been appointed President of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia (REIWA) 1986/8 and in 1993 was awarded life membership of REIWA for his services. John has also chaired The Small Business Development Corporation for 7 years, been past Deputy Chairman of Celebrate WA, past Patron of the C Y O’Connor Foundation, Past Committee Member of The Australian British Chamber of Commerce, and Director of Future Directions International.
John's service to Rotary over the past 34 years is similarly legendary, including as Past President of Rotary Club of Perth and recipient of multiple Paul Harris Fellow Awards and similar prestigious nominations for his contribution to Rotary and the community. In recent years, John has been proudly guiding Rebecca Tolstoy’s Path of Hope Foundation (POHF) in breaking the cycle of domestic violence – to date having raised over $10m. POHF is now established as a Rotary worldwide charity in partnership with The Salvation Army.
In 2007 John was awarded an order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his services to real estate and the community.
