We are thrilled to welcome Michele Routh, Public Relations Director, St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE)! Michele started as PIE’s first PR Director at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport in 2004. She oversees communications and media, community relations, volunteers, customer experience, special events, education programs, and public art.
Michele has a diverse public sector background in the Tampa Bay Area. As the Executive Director of the Pinellas County Millennium Celebration, a project jointly sponsored by Pinellas County Government and St. Petersburg College, she directed the yearlong celebration in partnership with numerous Tampa Bay organizations and volunteers. She continued at St. Petersburg College, coordinating various special projects and events, including initially directing the City of St. Petersburg’s 100thAnniversary Celebration.
Previously, she worked in local governments in economic development, public relations, budgeting and capital programming, labor negotiations, human resources, performance measurement and special project management. Ms. Routh worked on the management teams of the City of St. Petersburg, Hillsborough County, and the City of St. Pete Beach.
Michele received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida, her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Florida and completed 2 years of doctoral studies at the University of Maryland in Psychology. She is a graduate of Leadership St. Pete and is actively involved in the community through chambers of commerce, education, and non-profit organizations. She helped found the Studio@620, an interdisciplinary arts venue, serving as its first President and 10th year President and served on the Florida Craft Art Board of Directors. Michele also served on the Tony Jannus Distinguished Aviation Board for over 20 years and was Co-Chair in 2001. She co-developed the Big Brothers Big Sisters Workplace High School Mentor Program at PIE and served as a “Big”.
