We are thrilled to welcome Brian Himert!! Born in Chicagoland (Lombard Il) -Joined the Marine Corps at 18 & served my county, and have a service connected disability as a result. -Graduated with a Bachelors in marketing and a bachelors in management. -Spent 36 years in the Florida property insurance industry. -In 2016, I started working in my off time with my wife at our business (The Spice & Tea Exchange of John’s Pass) -I set out to increase our current business income, so I created an additional revenue source with corporate giving & private labeling our products that I am responsible for. -I reside on Treasure Island, and have 2 grown children. -In my spare time I love to support causes in our community. -I am an Egypt Temple Shriner, I support a local trash cleanup on the beach, and serve the community on the board of directors for the Pinellas Beaches chamber. -However, 2 organizations I care about the most… Veterans & humans with disabilities. -I mentor veterans & active duty service members who have been arrested & if eligible, place them in a VA sponsored program called “Veteran Treatment Court”. -This a 28-32 month program that is completely sober & offers them counseling, drug & alcohol support, clothing, haircuts, car repairs and more. -I began mentoring in 2015 thru this program & supported by MacDill AFB & Hillsborough county 13th Judicial circuit. In that time, I have mentored 26 veterans back to “Fit For Duty” to carry out the rest of their lives as they’re entitled to. -I have lost some veterans under my direction who had so much stress from PTSD, they ultimately made a permanent solution to a temporary problem. -My other group is BuddyCruise, which supports families all across the disability spectrum. There is a one week cruise yearly, and we provide a special Olympics, a prom, a walk at sea on the top deck & bring guest speakers to raise awareness & provide many more fun activities. -In my spare time, I love spending time with my bride, seeing my kids & traveling world wide. -I also enjoy the beach, yoga, swimming, visiting national parks, traveling & my Cubs baseball.
