Quack alert! 🦆 The Rotary Club of Canterbury Duck Race is back!This year, the event kicks off on the FIRST DAY of Canterbury’s Great Stour Riverfest on Sunday 21st September 2025. We’re quacking with eggs-citement - are you?
🕐 Event details
• Date: Sunday 21st September 2025
• Main Duck Race: 1pm (weather permitting), starting near Toddler’s Cove
• Location: Westgate Gardens, (near Westgate Towers), Canterbury CT1 2BQ
🌟 This year we also have some eggs-citing new additions BEFORE the main Duck Race starts:
• Punt procession with the Lord Mayor: The Lord Mayor of Canterbury will lead a small punt procession down a short length of the River Stour– a joyful celebration of our city and community spirit!
• Corporate Duck Race: Cheer on local businesses as their corporate-sponsored ducks race for charity! The winning company’s chosen charity will receive a £500 donation. (More information here: https://www.rotarycanterbury.org.uk/events/sponsor-corporate-duck-2025/)
🦆 The Main Duck Race
Thousands of yellow ducks will “swim” from Toddler’s Cove to Westgate Gardens, cheered on by families and spectators alike. Prizes await the first three ducks across the finish line:
• 1st prize: £500
• 2nd prize: £200
• 3rd prize: £100
💷 Sponsor a duck in the build up to the race!
Ducks are just £2 each, with all profits supporting Rotary’s local and international causes.
🦆 Ducks are available for sponsorship at Whitefriars Square (opp. Boots):
o Wed 10th Sept, 09:30–17:00
o Sat 13th Sept, 09:30–17:00
o Sat 20th Sept, 09:30–17:00
o Sun 21st Sept, 09:30–17:00, Westgate Gardens: - a limited number available before the race starts.
Make sure you sponsor your duck before we run out – and get to Westgate Gardens on the 21st in plenty of time to grab a good spot, watch the Mayor’s punt, and cheer on the corporate ducks.
