Led by the Boston Urban Wilds staff, we will learn about wetlands ecology while helping to restore this natural space. Weather date: Sunday, February 9, 9:00-12:00.Please come dressed for cold weather, including warm clothing, sturdy footwear, and work gloves.
During the "learn" portion of the event, Urban Wilds staff will review proper pruning practices for native woody trees and shrubs. We will demonstrate on some of the more recently planted restoration plantings, and review the best times to prune, discuss why we prune restoration plantings, and discuss the variety of tools we use for pruning. If there is snow on the ground, we will also do some critter print identification!
During the "serve" portion of the event, Urban Wilds staff will work with volunteers to perform invasive woody plant removals in areas of the site that may be too buggy or difficult to access when things are leafed out during the spring, summer and fall months.
