The 2nd Day of Rosh Hashanah: Friday, October 4th / 2 Tishrei 5785
Event Details: Non-traditional/anti-zionist service, potluck, and activities under the trees at Ainsworth State Park. Service will start around 10am (Jewish time!) followed by a potluck lunch (~1pm) 🌊 Service is child-friendly but not child-focused. We anticipate lighting candles for Shabbat and having a singing circle for those choosing to camp Friday night into Saturday.
Access info: Short walk in on level dirt pathway over a bridge from the parking area with a short slope down from the path to the campsite where the service is held. No stairs- wheelchair accessible. Bathrooms require walking back down the path and through a paved road down an incline. Ride sharing will be arranged prior to the event to support getting everyone out to the event location: Carpool Spreadsheet Linked Here
COVID precautions: This event will be outside and masked unless eating or drinking. Please show a negative test the day you arrive, some tests will be provided. You can either bring a time-stamped photograph of your negative test or you can share it with Arielle by texting it to 301-275-3196. Please do not come if you are experiencing a sore throat, heavy cough, sneezing or fever, even with a negative test.
Camping Option: There is *limited* space for camping 🏕️ Thursday night — Saturday morning; breakfast on your own (but we’ll probably make pancakes 😋🥞). This Eventbrite is to register for campsites, those hoping to come but not camp out should still fill out this Google Spreadsheet. RV Campsites and hike-in, bike-in campsites are also available at your own expense.
Event Contact: If you are interested in contributing to the service, have ideas for activities, or questions, please reach out to Chirona at [email protected] or via text at 845-548-8801.
Funding: The Alberta Shul, a small Jewish community nonprofit, has booked several camp sites. If you would like to contribute to the costs, please venmo @Chirona or contact them for other payment options.
We are excited to welcome you into this beautiful community space — this is our 3rd year offering it as an open event! We look forward to co-creating with you!
