The fourth annual Rose of Dolgensee

A night of parody and pageantry!
The pale moon was rising over Berlin on the night of the Rose of Dolgensee. A traditional Irish pageant brought to Germany to find the loveliest, most wholesome, unmarried maiden in all the land.
This is no ordinary beauty pageant. The winning Rose will enchant the nation with her pure, chaste, and pious nature—truly embodying the ideal Irish woman.
For those new to our event, our esteemed host will delve into the personal lives of our lovely contestants, ask overly intimate questions about their love lives, probe into their top five charitable hobbies, and overshadow their relationships with their fathers. Following this, he will compel them to deliver the performance of a lifetime. Previous talents have included; vaping, acapella hymns, “the invisible man”, “the knife song” and simultaneously playing the tin whistle while hula hooping. The audience will be able to vote on who they believe represents the pure, honest and virgin face of Berlin. There can only be one winner and our lovely runners up will be deported immediately.
There are two ways to interact with this event.
Option 1: You take part as a Rose. You will do a quick five minute interview, including a silly talent. We do not take liability for any hard feelings/sore losership/poor sportsmanship. For this we will need you to book the ROSE ticket and we will be in touch with the next steps.
Option 2: You are part of the voting audience. Leave your biases at the door and come in with an open mind but more importantly, an open phone so you can scan the QR code to vote.

The Rose of Dolgensee is Act I in a two part event series called BIRDS AS OMEN. BIRDS AS OMEN is part of , an initiative of Culture Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland in Germany.
This is an inclusive event and safe space where anyone and everyone is welcome to join, and/or take part as a Rose. We are parodying an outdated expectation on what a “good Irish female” looks like, and would like to challenge this idea while celebrating diversity in all its forms. No discrimination will be tolerated.
