The Fraiser Room is situated in the grounds of St Laurence Church, Surfleet. There is free parking, in the lay by outside the Church, on Gosberton Road. The workshop begins at 10.15am. Set up is from 10am with time for a cuppa and to meet everyone.
A fun day learning how to make small rope bowls. You will be shown how to create the base, make the sides and a variety of finishes and handles. Plus how to use embroidery stitches or fabric to decorate, either wrapping around the rope coil, or sewing it to the base or the over and under method. There will be plenty of time for you to use these methods to create your own bowl.
It will be beneficial if you have already attended the previous Rope Bowl Workshop. However not essential as we will cover all the basics and you will receive written instructions.
You will need your sewing machine, which allows you to lengthen and widen you stitch. The open machine foot used for Zigzag stitch and extension table attachment or books that give a flat surface to work on. (Also the foot control and leads, these can be so easily forgotten)
Thread to tone or contrast with your fabric, I use either Moon thread or Guttermans in a light cream to blend with the rope or a colour that matches the fabric I am working with.
Strips of fabric about 3/4" wide, I prefer Batik as the fabric doesn't fray to much. (Rotary cutters, mats and rulers will be available on the day)
Basic sewing kit scissors to cut the rope and fabric,
Binding clips or small bulldog clips.
A 90 or Jean sewing machine needle.
Embellishments (Buttons, beads, etc.)
Tea, coffee, biscuits and cake will be provided. Please bring your lunch and a mug.
Places are limited to 8. To book your place or if you have any questions please use [email protected] or pm me.
£15 from each place fee will be donated.
