ROPE & BDSM FOR BEGINNERS

Are you new to BDSM or ready to take your play to a whole new level?

Learn about how Shibari Rope Bondage and Conscious BDSM can be utilized for deeper connection & sensuality, healing & transformation. Come immersed yourself in a consent based, trauma-informed container where all of your emotions are welcome. Come solo, with a friend, or a partner. Come learn and experience the beauty of Empowered Surrender.

WORKSHOP DETAILS:

Once doors are locked, we will perform a container setting that includes introductions and agreements so everyone understands the expectations for how we relate during the workshop.

We will then ground and connect with our bodies, through a guided full body-scan meditation. Then we will teach Embodied Consent (Somatic Consent) — A way to practice consent & negotiation that fully respects our nervous systems and ensures mutual win-win in all our interactions, setting the stage for how we engage and help foster a safe and successful container.

PLEASE NOTE: We offer a fully consent based space, and while we welcome people to come solo (as individuals), be aware that we don't force people to work with anyone else in the space. Self-Tying and/or Voyeuring are great ways to learn and practice all that we teach in this workshop.

SETTING THE CONTAINER… We will also be covering Setting, Opening and Closing of the Container/Scene within a BDSM/Rope experience. Creating a physically, psychologically and spiritually safe space of awareness, sensitivity, compassion and attunement, is paramount for a successful rope experience/scene. Every BDSM scene will have an entrance and an exit… And there are many options that we can use to create these special transitions into and out of our rope scene (e.g. ritual, ceremony, totem, intention, agreement, etc.)

CONSENT & NEGOTIATION... We will teach exercises on how to embody principles for full somatic consent. It is important to negotiate all aspects of a BDSM/Rope Scene prior to the scene (e.g. where and how we will be touching someone, what ties may be performed, and even what BDSM implements and tools will be used [or not used] during a scene).

SAFETY... This should be our primary concern when playing with ropes. The more educated we are about the anatomy of the body and how to avoid injury the more we are able to develop trust, and the deeper we can go with our partner (Rope Bottom).

ROPE MECHANICS & FLOW... In this workshop we will learn and discuss some of the fundamentals and importance of clean rope technique, as well as how to create useful transitions with your rope tying so as to maximize the fluidity and success of a rope scene.

ROPE PLAY... We consider Shibari to be a highly potent tool for somatic and psychic transformation and healing. And although it can be a very sensual and playful art, it is important to be aware of the potentially psychologically triggering nature of Shibari, and to be prepared for these moments in your rope scene. Being trauma-aware is only the beginning to understanding how to create a successful rope scene for a Dominant and their Submissive.

Check-in between 5:55 pm-6:10 pm to sign release of liability forms and get settled. We will be locking the doors at 6:20 sharp. No Exceptions. Do not ask for a late entry — Just be early!

Arrive sober and remain sober for the event. We consider sobriety necessary for consent.

Q&A…

You do not need to bring your own rope, we will have plenty for you to use.

You do not need to come with a partner. Individuals are welcome. Many ties and techniques can be practiced on yourself or other attendants of the workshop. We ask that you release attachment and agenda for your experience as this is a consent-based space, and we cannot guarantee others will want to participate in exercises with you. We strongly encourage all participants to fully honor themselves at all times. Voyeurism (sitting back and witnessing) and Self-Tying are always considered participation and there is much to learn within these roles as well.

BONUS!

This event is considered a pre-requisite for our Open Rope Play Labs. Once you complete this event, you can continue to explore being tied, practice tying others, or learning through watching others at our Open Rope Play Labs.
