This year’s official UK Americana Association showcases may not be happening, but we have our own! Roots in the Round steps in as an artist-led, one-night gathering at the Sound Lounge, where artists from both sides of the pond share Americana songs in the round...because the music was always going to happen. Starring SL friends old and new:Daisy Chute
Daisy has earned a loyal following through her award-winning songwriting, striking instrumentation and jaw-dropping vocals. In 2024, she won a Grammy Award as part of the Birdsong Project with her piece with Robert Thomas, 'Murmuration', inspired by starling murmurations. Daisy straddles the folk-Americana, classical and jazz worlds and regularly sells out shows across the UK, Europe and the US. She can be spotted with a guitar or banjo at such prestigious venues as Kings Place in London and the Stables in Milton Keynes, and at festivals including Black Deer, Cambridge Folk and Glastonbury. Her original music and singing features on BBC radio and TV, film and game soundtracks and is playlisted across Caffé Neros globally. 'Coven', the musical she co-wrote about witch trials, premiered in 2025.
Savannah Gardner
A show-woman bending the country music genre to her mighty will. Savannah combines blues, honky tonk and gypsy jazz into her big sound while keeping vintage and traditional country alive and well. Her London-based band, Savannah Gardner & The Recovering Good Girls, are selling out venues all over the UK with their energetic and almost theatrical show. Introduced to the Sound Lounge audience by patron and music journalist Paul Sexton at one of his new artist showcases in the summer of 2023, Savannah has played coveted festivals like Glastonbury, Black Deer, C2C London, Red Rooster, The Long Road and more. Her acclaimed debut album' Recovering Good Girl' is out now, produced by Dale Davis, the legendary former bass player and musical director for Amy Winehouse.
SJ Mortimer
“A formidable vocal presence” - Clash Music
Meet the lead singer and songwriter in Morganway, the Americana/indie rock band hailed by Maverick magazine as “one of the best and most exciting prospects to emerge in a long time”. SJ, described as “part angel, part banshee”, is not your archetypal singer-songwriter. Born and bred in Cambridge, she recorded her solo album in Nashville and has since toured and honed her craft extensively across the UK, Europe, America and even Shanghai. SJ has also been compared to a modern-day Stevie Nicks or Janis Joplin and a “female-fronted Zeppelin” (Get Ready To Rock). Morganway have released three studio albums and supported artists such as Skunk Anansie, Belle & Sebastian and Elles Bailey. Their latest album ‘K*ll The Silence’ reached #4 on the Independent Album Breakers Chart, #9 on the Americana Chart and #15 on the Independent Album Chart.
Run Remedy
Run Remedy is Robin Koob — an ex-evangelical violin nerd from New Jersey turned Manchester-based alt-indie songwriter with a sense of humour. Her songs blend subtle folk influences and experimental electronic textures into what The Line of Best Fit calls “pure, blissful, lo-fi dreaminess.” With BBC 6 Music champions like Guy Garvey (“an amazing songwriter”) and Amy Lamé (“some darned good tunes”), her music swerves from grief to giggles without warning — diving into religious trauma, secret crushes, and awkward family dinners. The result is genre-bending, hauntingly beautiful songs — heartfelt, catchy, and just unhinged enough to feel like a fun therapy session.
Doors for this unique evening are at 7pm with showtime around 8.30. Tickets are Pay What You Can Afford, with a free entry option and tiers at £5, £10, £15 and £20.
