ROOTS FUSION IS COMING TO THE LOFT EVERY THURSDAY! Roots Fusion is excited to announce that we will now be holding our fusion dances WEEKLY, at Brigid's Loft in historic Port Townsend at 280 Quincy Street, 2nd Floor. Come join us every Thursday night BEGINNING JANUARY 8th, 2026 from 7:00PM to 9:30PM and immerse yourself in the winter-warmth of PT's fusion dance community, on the Loft's newly renovated dance floor. There will be a fun lesson on how to combine fusion with other dance styles, each week from 7:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Open dancing starts at 7:30. Lessons will start promptly at 7 PM so leave yourself a little extra travel time! See you soon and don't forget to ask the volunteers for a dance - we love newbies!ENTRANCE FEE is $7-$14 sliding scale (see an organizer if you need additional financial support). You do not have to bring a partner. We welcome beginners. Music is contemporary and includes an assortment of tempos and styles for fusion and micro-fusion dance.
ROOTS FUSION offers a supportive and consensual fusion and micro-fusion dance space in which to explore the co-creation of movement to contemporary music, have fun, and meet new people. Lead and follow is gender-free, and switching leads is welcome. New to fusion? No problem! We love new faces. Questions? Reach out to us at our NEW EMAIL: [email protected]. Please help us keep this event recreational drug and alcohol-free.
DANCE STYLE: Roots Fusion is a partner dance experience that can combine elements of blues, tango, west coast swing, waltz, zook, lindy, bachata and other partnered dance styles that utilize frame and the concepts of lead and follow.
BENEFIT: Roots Fusion Dance is an all-volunteer non-profit registered in the state of Washington. We also donate to a number of worthy non-political causes, most of them local.
CONSENT: Fusion and micro-fusion are partnered dance styles that can range from open hand hold, to closed position, to very close embrace. Please be mindful of obtaining consent, either verbally or with clear physical communication, before close embrace especially with a new partner. No high lifts are allowed in our dance space and low lifts should have clear verbal consent between dancers prior to their attempt. Consent in partner dancing can be complex to navigate. More guidelines can be found on our website at https://fusioninclusion.org/values-guidelines/ and these will be updated in the coming months. Please do not hesitate to bring any unwelcome or potentially hazardous behavior to the attention of our volunteer staff. Fusion is a partnered dance. Please be respectful of the vibe and of keeping the dance space safe for all.
FOOTWEAR: Please wear dance shoes or other clean, non-scuffing indoor footwear. Clean, bare feet are acceptable, however the floor is wood, and shoes generally do a better job of preventing splinters. Socks and bare feet are at your own discretion and risk.
COME DANCE! BE HAPPY! :)
Your hosts,
Aryn, Aya, Connie, David, Day, Jassen, Megan, & Tara
