The Roots & Wings CarniFest, organized by Tanya Michelle (known for events like Bands for Bricks), is more than just a festival — it’s a movement of music, memories, and meaningful connection.
📍 Hosted at Afrikaans Hoërskool Germiston, this once-a-year community celebration brings people from all walks of life together on one epic day — 30 August 2025 — to fundraise, uplift, and ignite hope through the power of arts, culture, and unity.
🎤 LIVE MUSIC LINE-UP
With music kicking off from 08h00, get ready to dance, sing, and vibe to a full day of diverse performances, with 15-minute transitions between each act. Featuring a powerful line-up of local legends and rising stars, including:
🎶 Mia – Opening the stage with her soulful energy
🎶 Logan Pietersen – Heartfelt lyrics and raw storytelling
🎶 Band after band bringing rock, indie, Afrikaans, folk, blues, R&B and more to life throughout the day
🎶 Special guest artists and surprise performances
Expect over 30 acts throughout the day — including school bands, talent show winners, and some names you may already love from radio, TV, or TikTok.
🌍 GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
Be part of history as we attempt to break the world record for largest mass drumming circle — with hundreds of participants uniting in rhythm and purpose.
🎡 CARNIVAL FUN FOR ALL AGES
Giant inflatables, rides & jumping castles
Classic carnival games like Hopstacle Hero, Barrow of Laughs, Speed Dating – Literally, Love on the Run, and Junior Jaag & Jol
Petting zoo and pony rides
Artisan craft market, vintage finds, and creative upcycling stalls

The top 3 acts from our school's talent show will perform LIVE on the main stage! Expect goosebumps, laughs, and unforgettable moments from our very own stars.
