About this Event
exilio and DuoKava join forces presenting our collaborative concert: Roots & Renewal. This is a musical journey that bridges the distant past with the present, breathing new life into sounds that we once were familiar with. This concert explores the origin of music—traditional melodies, ancient text, and folk rhythms—reimagined through contemporary voices, instruments, and styles. This concert features music by Trumbore, Esmail, Gordon, Monk, Brouwer, Krouse, Goss and three premieres by Hannah Rice from exilio, Leighanne Saltsman and Olga Amelkina-Vera.
exilio is a Los Angeles-based acappella octet. The group features music by underperformed composers throughout history, as well as rising composers, seeking to help both spring forward into the public consciousness through performances and educational initiatives.
DuoKava is a vibrant musical partnership between guitarist Doris Ćosić and flutist Antonina Styczeń. Their repertoire consists of contemporary American composers, Latin American music, and the music of Southeastern Europe, reflecting their heritage. Duokava's collaborative spirit, virtuosity, and commitment to pushing musical boundaries continue to captivate audiences and make them a standout duo in the world of classical music.
