Full day workshop exploring textile crafts of Gujarat in a talk by Shailini Sheth Amin, watch handloom weaving demonstration and try drop spinning and Charkha spinning.

Textile crafts of Gujarat and its global reach.

Gandhi, Khadi fabric, its role in India’s freedom movement and impact.

Organic and sustainable clothing for people and the planet

1-4 - Textile artist Dutch born Erna Janine, will demonstrate handloom weaving with a variety of yarns during the event.

Trained in Japan, she uses Saori looms for most of her work and travels to India regularly to explore textile techniques and history. Two years ago, she took part in the Khadi conference in Ahmedabad.


1-4 - Learn how to spin loose fibres into yarn using a drop spindle with Tiya Dahyabhai. The resulting handmade yarn can be used to weave, knit or braided into bracelets.

Try out recycled sari fibres, colourful embroidery threads and natural hemp fibres during this workshop.


1-4 - Committed to sustainability in what we eat and wear, Asha Buch will demonstrate hand spinning on the Charkha box – the amazing simple wheels designed by Gandhi which enabled everyone in India to spin their own cotton
