"Rooted in Wellness: Addressing Hair Loss with Experts," produced by Mane Moves Media, is taking its impactful Instagram series offline and in-person on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 1p-4pm at NY Beauty Suites in Brooklyn, NY. This event, coinciding with National Hair Loss Awareness Month, is dedicated to raising awareness about the epidemic of hair loss among Black women. Our goal is to remove the shame and stigma surrounding hair loss, foster open conversations, and provide real solutions for maintaining the health and wellness of Black women.

Our fireside chat will feature hair loss expert Dr. Achiamah Osei-Tutu, MD, a board-certified dermatologist specializing in hair restoration, and Master Natural Hair Care Specialist Diane C. Bailey who’s innovative model of merging dermatological care and hair styling services offered under one roof is providing a much needed solution. Key topics will include debunking hair-loss myths, understanding the types and forms of hair loss, addressing its effects on mental and emotional health, and discovering the latest treatments and supports available.

Hair loss is not just an aesthetic issue; it's a health issue and is often an early sign of underlying medical conditions. In light of recent studies linking beauty products to health issues like cancer, attendees will discover how unregulated beauty products can impact health.

An overwhelming majority of Black women (86%) have reported challenges finding consistent, quality hair care at salons.* This event aims to bridge that gap by having licensed qualified professional hair stylists available to offer mini consultations for attendees.
