Join local Baltimore-based printmaker, MC Carey of Femme
Prints, for a self-love and radical self-compassion printmaking workshop! In a world
where violence and emotional turmoil are all too common, MC wants to create
intentional space for people to actively engage in an embodied artistic practice of Self-
Love and Radical Self Compassion. Participants will join MC in the designing, carving,
and printing of their very own Self-Love journal in the gorgeous upstairs workshop
space of Bmore’s best plant shop, B. Willow. Surrounded by lovely foliage and florals,
participants will create their own images of self-love and compassion rooted in natural
symbolism. Plants are medicine for the soul helping guide us in times of love, distress,
grief, joy, and more. Participants will lean on plant medicine and stories of self-love
while they learn how to carve into their very own linoleum blocks (4x6” battleship gray
linoleum)! Each participant will leave with one linoleum block carving, at least 3 prints
and one lined journal with their linoleum block printed on the cover. Participants will be
provided with all materials necessary to complete the project but are encouraged to
come prepared with ideas for their journal cover.
Please note that the workshop will be located on the second floor of B.Willow which is
up a flight of stairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Participants are encouraged to
wear a KN95 mask to this event. Masks will be available during the day of the event.
Tea and light refreshments will be provided. This workshop is perfect for beginners.
MC Carey (they/them) is a printmaker and illustrator living and creating in Baltimore, MD. MC runs a print studio called Femme Prints where they focus on creating detailed and textural linoleum and wood block carvings celebrating themes of liberation, natural storytelling, body love, and self-exploration. Through their print studio, Femme Prints, MC runs printmaking workshops and collaborates with local organizations for illustration needs.
