About this Event
Come learn the art of making fresh, nourishing sourdough bread from scratch. In the peaceful and supportive environment of The Raven Heart, A Healing Sanctuary. This soulful space, known for its yoga, energy work, and gatherings, offers the perfect setting to slow down, get grounded, and create something beautiful with your hands.
Whether you're new to sourdough or looking to deepen your connection to the process, this workshop invites you into a warm and welcoming experience of learning, community, and reflection.
In this class, you will:
- Learn the full sourdough baking process, from feeding your starter to shaping your loaf
- Receive a beautifully designed beginner’s sourdough guide, complete with a step-by-step recipe
- Start your own dough during the class to take home and bake the next day
- Get continued support after the workshop to help you succeed on your sourdough journey
- A piece of my 38-year-old starter to take home
Alongside the hands-on baking, we’ll make space for gentle reflection and discussion on our personal relationships with food- how certain tastes, smells, and textures can carry memories and connect us to different times in our lives. You’ll be invited to explore how memory lives in our senses, and how baking can be an act of grounding, care, and connection.
What to Bring:
- A medium-sized bowl
- A medium tea towel (large enough to cover your bowl)
- Measuring cups: 1 cup, ½ cup, ¼ cup, and 1 teaspoon
Note: It’s recommended that each participant have a Dutch oven at home for baking their bread, and that you set aside time after class to complete the final steps of the process.
