Rooted Girls Group

Rooted® (formerly G.E.M.S.® In Color)An 8-week empowerment and self-esteem group for girls of color in 3rd–5th grade

Created by Dr. Erica Tatum-Sheade, DSW, LCSW, Rooted® was designed with the unique needs of girls of color in mind. As a seasoned therapist, registered play therapist supervisor, and leader in youth empowerment work, Dr. Erica brings years of experience supporting children in discovering their voice, building resilience, and embracing their identity.

Rooted® provides a safe, affirming space where girls of color can explore who they are, develop leadership skills, and build confidence—all while forming meaningful connections with peers who share similar lived experiences.

This group is grounded in Dr. Erica’s G.E.M.S. Model of Empowerment™, which centers around the 4 C’s:🔹 Clarity – Understanding who they are and what truly matters to them🔹 Connection – Building and maintaining healthy relationships with others🔹 Consistency – Learning to show up authentically and with intention🔹 Courage – Developing the bravery to speak up, take action, and lead with confidence

By the end of this 8-week journey, participants will walk away with a deeper sense of self, stronger social skills, and the confidence to shine as leaders in their world.

• Who: Girls who identify as Black, Latina, Indigenous, Biracial, or Multiracial
• When: Weekly 90-minute sessions for 8 weeks
• What's Included: All materials are included in the cost of the group
