About this Event
The Legend Lives On!Linda Ronstadt, 11-time Grammy winner who sold over 100 million albums in country, rock, Latin, Motown, and even Broadway music, is no longer performing publicly. Yet millions of her devoted fans still long to hear the beloved songs that made up the soundtrack of their lives.
Fortunately, her incredible musical legacy now lives on through the stunning talents of powerhouse vocalist, Gesenia and her 6-piece band, Ronstadt Revue. Every Ronstadt Revue show, performed in painstaking detail in both English and Spanish, spans many of the musical genres of Ms. Ronstadt’s 40+ year career: pop, rock, country, Motown, Great American Songbook standards, and Spanish language hits (sung authentically by Gesenia, who is Latina). Their performance is so authentic that two of Linda Ronstadt’s own band members are currently co-producing and featured on the upcoming Ronstadt Revue album and one of them, her former guitarist, John Beland, appears at tonight’s show! In addition to performing with the band, John will share his wonderful stories about his time on the road with Ms. Ronstadt (before becoming a member of the legendary Flying Burrito Brothers).
Tonight’s audience will also receive a special treat: a performance of a song that Linda and John had been working on in hotel rooms after hours, but which never made it into the studio. When John first heard Gesenia and Ronstadt Revue, he saw the perfect opportunity, decades later, to bring this song to fruition the way he remembered it from his days with Linda. “Every time I hear Gesenia and Ronstadt Revue, I’m catapulted back to that stage I shared with Linda so many years ago. Gesenia makes the hair on my arms stand up when she sings. She’s one of the finest singers I’ve ever worked with”, says Beland, who has also worked with Dolly Parton, Rita Coolidge, Kim Carnes, and Alison Krauss.
In tonight’s show, Gesenia will escort you on a deeply personal and nostalgic journey through such blockbuster hits as “When Will I Be Loved?", "You're No Good", "Blue Bayou", “Long, Long Time”, "Perfidia" and the Eagles' heart-breaking "Desperado", and have you singing these beloved songs all the way home.
