About this Event
Canadian singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith recorded his 17th album, Hangover Terrace (2025), at London’s Eastcote Studios with longtime collaborator Martin Terefe after his UK tour in late 2024. The album reflects on the lingering emotional impact of the pandemic, personal loss, and strained relationships, marking a shift from the rural contentment of his recent work toward a more introspective tone.
The sessions featured contributions from past collaborators and surprise guests, including guitarist Robbie McIntosh, producer Chris Kimsey, and Stratford songwriter Nora Joy Stephens. Themes range from social issues like the housing crisis (Camelot Towers) to grief (When Will the Morning Come) and spirituality (Angel on My Shoulder).
At 61, Sexsmith continues his daily songwriting practice, drawing on life experience and memories of his St. Catharines childhood. With a career spanning over three decades, 17 albums, and songs covered by artists from k.d. lang to Rod Stewart, he remains one of Canada’s most celebrated songwriters. As part of his upcoming European tour, he will play Live At St. Luke’s in Cork on March 7th.
