Our semi-monthly Romantasy book club features reads that are steamy, dreamy, and adventurous! This club is for readers who love epic fantasy worlds and swoon-worthy love stories: thinks fierce heroines, morally gray love interests, slow burns, and high stakes. This book club meets semi-monthly at the shop– in January, March, May, July, September, and November, to be exact-- to discuss our reading selection, sharing perspectives and conversation around the book and its themes.
For the month of January, we are reading "The Empress" by Kristin Cast.
Hannah is a modern-day Chicago woman whose life is upended by a tarot reading that transports her to the magical, tarot-infused world of Towerfall. There, she meets the brooding warrior Kane, who claims she's the key to saving his realm from ruin, forcing her into a fake marriage and a dangerous quest where she must embrace her own hidden magic to survive and find her way home. The first book in the Towerfall series, "The Empress" blends modern life with fantastical, tarot-inspired adventure, steamy romance, and courtly intrigue.
