About this Event
Join your fellow Janeites for an afternoon symposium considering Jane Austen's influence on the romance genre!
Our distinguished guest speakers are Dr. Mary Bly (who publishes under the pen name Eloisa James) and Dr. Vanessa Riley (who will also be a plenary speaker at the JASNA AGM in October). Both are bestselling authors of Regency romances, as well as of other works of historical and contemporary fiction.
Each of them will discuss their research into Austen's milieu, examine the role of "the Regency" in pop culture today, and share what they've learned from the author of Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion about how to write a compelling, enduring love story.
Like most of our regional events, this meeting is open to JASNA members and nonmembers alike.
It will take place in the Commons at Marymount Manhattan College, an ADA-accessible venue and the site of our meeting last December. If the weather's nice we'll mingle on the terrace! Tea and light refreshments will be served.
Please email [email protected] with any questions.
We look forward to seeing you in May.
