Visit one of the most ancient thermal complex in the world!
About this Event

Discover the Roman Baths of Agnano, two-thousand years of history, which is an enchanting place built in an area located in the western area of Naples and is part of the volcanic complex of the Phlegraean Fields, whose history is deeply linked to its thermal baths, which have been appreciated since ancient times. In the IV-III century BC some Greek populations from the island of Euboea who settled on the island of Pithekoussa (now Ischia), founded first Cuma and then Neapolis proved to know the thermal properties of the Phlegraean area. The numerous archaeological finds still visible in the thermal park testify to this. In this magical place, the Romans celebrated in honor of the god Saturn. The excursion includes stops at the Hellenistic structures, at the 'Grotta del Cane', and at the remains of the Roman baths. They were made in an evocative setting: fill your imagination with scenes of ancients relaxing while sipping the classic honey wine called the 'mulsum'. The complex is commonly dated to the Hadrian era (117-138 AD); the rooms in the western sector can be traced back to this chronological moment, while the eastern ones - the first visible ones - are considered later (Augustan age - Julio-Claudian (first half of the 1st century AD). The visit will give you an incredible point of view of that era while walking through history!
