Sonny Rollins - A Night At the Village Vanguard: A Night of Classic Jazz

In 1957 the legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins recorded one of the most celebrated Blue Note albums of all time – ‘A Night at the Village Vanguard’. Recorded in the world’s most feted jazz club, the music captured Rollins’ trio in full flow, and the album has been considered a classic of its time and the combination of swing and invention shown by the band that night has remained a benchmark in the history of the club, the Blue Note Label and in jazz.

For the first time in Ireland, using the same format as Rollins classic album, this music will be played in its entirety by three of the leading lights in European jazz – Michael Buckley, Ronan Guilfoyle and Christophe Lavergne. The trio brings its vast experience and creativity to bear on this storied repertoire and you can expect an evening of excitement, intensity and great swinging grooves!
