“Here’s to life!” Fans around the world can be found singing the chorus of the Roger Clyne-penned fan favorite “Mekong” and toasting their glasses in unison to celebrate life through rock-n-roll. But the inspiration for the song dates back to the time Roger went to Taipei, Taiwan, as a college student to teach English during the day and busk with his guitar at night for money.
Today, as Clyne prepares to record his 11th studio album, he continues to transform his life experiences, inspirations, observations and his own muses into timeless music. And whether he’s wearing his Converse high tops, boots or sandals, Clyne’s blend of punk rock, country-western and mariachi influences have made him, drummer PH Naffah, guitarist Jim Dalton and bassist Nick Scropos – collectively known as Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers – one of America’s best live rock-n-roll bands.

Since 2002, Johnny Chops has spent a large part of his career as bass player and songwriting contributor in the Randy Rogers Band. Together they have recorded 8 studio and 2 live albums on both major and independent labels, as well as extensively toured the United States more than 100 dates a year. With solo albums in 2013 (Sticks & Stones) and 2018 (Johnny Chops & The Razors) he began charting his own path as an independent songwriter, while also holding steady with his band mates in RRB.
During extensive touring throughout 2018 and 2019, Johnny continued his daily and weekly habit of songwriting, amassing a mountain of new material to choose from for his next release. 2020 obviously had other plans. In the face of the global pandemic and virtual shutdown of the live music industry, Johnny and his wife, Andy, channelled their creative energies to confront this new reality with a positive new single, titled simply, “Hope is Contagious Too.” To finish out 2020 with another good note, he released his latest single “My Own Piece of Heaven” and an accompanying video which has quickly gained thousands of views in it’s first week of release. In March of 2021 his latest single and video “Trouble with the Truth” premiered on the Bluegrass Situation [https://thebluegrasssituation.com/read/watch-johnny-chops-trouble-with-the-truth/] and showcased his video production and directing talents. Johnny plans on releasing a third single and video this summer and further crafting songs to connect with fellow lovers of melody and storytelling.
