ABOUT ROEY
Born in Jerusalem, Israel, cellist Roey Dushi began studying music at the age of 10 in Boca Raton, Florida. He trained under David Cole at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music Preparatory School, later studying with Hans Jørgen Jensen at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Music. Throughout that time Roey struggled with stress and anxiety, which had a negative impact on his ability to progress with his instrument. Following his studies, he needed time to reassess his technique and his commitment to the cello. This gave him time to discover new interests such as through- hiking and agricultural work. Roey spent part of this time living in Israel, where he was visiting family and volunteering in a kibbutz for a year and a half. Through living in this community, Roey was inspired anew by the power of music and its importance for building community. Roey currently continues his studies with Professor Cole here at Lynn.
Outside of music, Roey enjoys hiking and thru-hiking, reading, and working with plants.
